A group of ten convicted of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A persistent false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's identity.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens disregarded all credible evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
